March 2010 NewsletterHasn’t it been a horrible winter? Spring is around the corner and my prediction is that it will get warmer and brighter over the next few months, and the nights will get longer too. See if I’m right! Here’s a roundup of the latest news. Microsoft Office 2010
A notable feature is that the Home & Business version will now incorporate Outlook, which was missing from Office 2007. If you would like to read a review of the pre-release version, click on the link below. http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/hands-on-microsoft-office-2010-review-652165 You can also download the Beta (Pre-release) version right now, to evaluate it for yourself. The official Microsoft Office 2010 site is at http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/default.aspx Do you need it? Probably not. But when it is officially released it will come already installed on new PCs and laptops. But if you don’t want to spend the money, there is always the magnificent Open Office programme, which superb Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Presentation programmes, as well as a few others, all for FREE. This is particularly useful for people who are currently using the outdated Microsoft Works, or have a new Netbook which doesn’t have a DVD drive, so you can’t insert CDs. This programme can be downloaded completely free by clicking on the link below: VIRUS THREAT
If you missed it and want to read about it again, click on this link to take you back to last month’s newsletter. http://www.henrymoss.co.uk/newsletters/feb-newsletter.html If you think you’ve got it, or want to make sure you DON’T get it, call or email me and I’ll arrange to come over and make sure your computer is clean and fully protected. New Touch Screen Computers.
It was a new Acer 23” all in one Touch Screen PC. It is fantastic! Like an Apple, it has a large high resolution screen, with the computer built in to the back of the screen, so there is no base unit. Just the screen and wireless keyboard and mouse. It has an Intel Quad Core processor and 4Gb RAM, so it is lightning fast and 1Tb (1,000 Gb Hard drive) As it is running Windows 7, it takes advantage of the touch screen facilities, which are unbelievable. So, you could do without using the mouse if you wanted to. It is a dream to use and doesn’t cost the earth. Amazon is selling it for less than £900. There are too many features to list here, but if you want to see a full description, click on the Amazon link below. There are other touch screen computers available, notably HP and Dell, but this was without question, the best one I’ve seen so far. If anyone wants to buy me a present, that’s what Id like.
